Jonathan Hammond

Jonathan is a health policy and services researcher specialising in qualitative and observational methods, with expertise in NHS policy, governance, general practice access, and political economy. As a member of the HOPE research group, he focuses on producing accessible research to inform policymakers. His work has included projects on mental health access, primary care networks, and optimising general practice access.

Jonathan joined the University of Manchester in 2009 and completed an ESRC-funded PhD (2011–2015) examining the introduction of Clinical Commissioning Groups and the 2012 Health and Social Care Act. He has contributed to studies on healthcare commissioning and recently led a project developing resources to optimise general practice access (2021–2023). He is a co-applicant for the upcoming PRUComm (2024–2029).
